Founded in 2006, SMS is a private, neighborhood school which promotes international teaching and learning methods while also prioritizing and celebrating the traditions and core Islamic values derived from our strong links with the culture of the Emirates.
Currently there are 1710 students enrolled in the school from Kindergarten to Grade 12. There are presently 120 instructional staff of varying nationalities. SMS boasts separate male and female campuses from Grades 5 -12 along with a range of specialty laboratories (technology, biology, physics, chemistry), sports facilities, soft-surface playgrounds, STrEaM activity room, libraries, multipurpose halls, a health clinic and canteens.
SMS provides an enhanced US Curriculum based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are adhered to for Science. The Ministry of Education program is used for Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies.
Students are offered a broad range of electives as well as numerous extra-curricular activities. Our learning environments are interactive and student-centered; while our Apple Education program and use of online platforms ensure that students are fully equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.

In keeping with the school’s mission, vision and values, the curriculum of SMS is designed to provide each student the opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential; develop intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually; grow as inquisitive, engaged and motivated learners and celebrate the values of respect, commitment and inclusivity.
Our curriculum is relevant, comprehensive and promotes innovation and challenge. The themes of enquiry based learning and student-centred planning run throughout. It offers a diverse and full range of hands-on teaching methods and individualised instruction.
It is highly effective in developing a balance of knowledge, skills and understanding while fulfilling all the requirements of the American curriculum.
