Position: Senior Buyer

Job Location: Abu Dhabi

The Senior Buyer qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favourable terms for the organization. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.

Main duties:

  • Ensure all purchases of foods, beverages, materials, services, equipment, and supplies etc. are in line with the approved policies and procedures and DOA on a timely basis
  • Identify and maximize opportunities for cost and price reductions
  • Interviews vendors/ conduct meetings and evaluates their products and capabilities as a supplier & maintain their data base
  • Researches product lines, prices, product sources and other relevant purchasing information
  • Maintain working relationships with all vendors by communicating in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed measurement criteria, implementing appropriate corrective actions and advising of impending business risk
  • Ensure timely deliveries at the lowest cost by handling and processing orders
  • Before make progress, procurement process ensure requisitions are properly completed and approved as per purchasing policy
  • Review orders for completeness, accuracy, vendor selection and compliance with existing policies and procedures
  • Maintain follow-up systems on all purchases
  • Resolves inquiries and complains from vendors and user department
  • Analyse price increases and make vendor changers as necessary and appropriate
  • Follow corporate guidelines on purchasing from corporate suppliers
  • Ensure that purchased items adhere to corporate standards and if not to take corrective action as required

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma related to area such as Business of Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing & Procurement or any related field
  • Minimum 4- 7years’ proven purchasing experience in the UAE related to Hospitality industry or experience in an integrated Private or Semi-Private Resort and Country Club or Sports Club with both Membership and Public access in a similar role
  • Excellent negotiation skills with outstanding vendor management skills and sharp problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity in using Purchasing, Logistics systems such as: ordering and delivery process for commodities or services through the use of automated procurement systems, and assures invoice payment by monitoring the process from initiation of a purchase order through the receipt of the goods or services and billing
