Job Title: Material Coordinator (Joinery Industry)

Job Summary: A Material Coordinator in the Joinery industry is responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials used in the manufacturing and installation of custom woodwork, furniture, cabinetry, and other joinery projects. This role ensures that materials are available when needed, tracked effectively, and comply with quality standards. The Material Coordinator works closely with procurement, production, and project management teams to maintain seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Management:
  • Coordinate the purchasing, receiving, and distribution of raw materials, including wood, veneers, hardware, adhesives, and finishing products.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all joinery materials in the warehouse or storage areas.
  • Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure the availability of materials for production schedules.
  • Procurement Support:
  • Assist in sourcing materials from suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely deliveries to meet production deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to place orders based on project needs and forecasts.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any delivery delays or quality issues.
  • Production Coordination:
  • Liaise with production teams to understand material requirements for upcoming projects and ensure timely supply.
  • Prepare material kits for joinery projects and distribute them to production areas as required.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage or wastage.
  • Logistics and Distribution:
  • Organize the transportation of materials to various project sites and ensure accurate documentation and tracking of deliveries.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to supply necessary materials for on-site work.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect materials upon receipt to ensure they meet specified quality standards and dimensions.
  • Report and document any discrepancies or defects in materials and work with suppliers to resolve issues.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all materials are stored safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment in the warehouse and production areas.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in materials coordination or inventory management, preferably in the joinery, carpentry, or construction industries.
  • Strong knowledge of wood types, joinery materials, and related supplies.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • A diploma or degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role within the joinery or woodworking industry.

Skills:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in the warehouse or production facility.
  • Some site visits may be required to coordinate material deliveries and installations.
