Learning Support Specialist - Science Specialist MATERNITY COVER (December 2023 - March 2024) (Secondary)
We are looking for a well-qualified Learning Support Specialist. The Learning Support Specialist should be a dedicated professional responsible for providing vital support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves offering in-class support, maintaining a deep understanding of student profiles, facilitating communication with parents and teachers, delivering one to one and small group support, and monitoring students' academic progress while responding appropriately to their needs.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to provide in-class support for students with diverse learning needs.
- Assist students in understanding classroom lessons, assignments, and activities.
- Modify instructional materials and strategies to accommodate individual student requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each student's profile, including their strengths, needs, and specific learning needs.
- Collaborate with school counsellors, special education teams, and other professionals to gather and maintain up-to-date student information.
- Maintain regular and open communication with parents or guardians to report on students' academic progress, achievements, and areas requiring improvement.
- Attend IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings to discuss students' progress and target setting.
- Collaborate closely with teachers to align support strategies with the curriculum and classroom objectives.
- Share insights and recommendations for adapting teaching methods and materials to meet individual student needs.
- Provide personalised one to one support to students who require additional assistance, tailoring instruction to address specific learning challenges.
- Organise and lead small group sessions aimed at addressing common identified challenges and reinforcing core concepts.
- Continuously assess and monitor students' academic progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, track improvements, and identify trends over time.
- Adjust support strategies based on ongoing assessment and evolving student needs.
- Collaborate with educators, specialists, and support teams to develop and implement effective intervention plans for students facing academic challenges.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of Science preferable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing classroom dynamics and individual student needs.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and resources.
