Job Description

A Maintenance Engineer in a furniture factory is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, optimizing maintenance processes, and implementing preventive maintenance strategies to support the efficient production of furniture.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance:Inspect, maintain, and repair machinery, production equipment, and tools to ensure they function efficiently and safely.
Develop and follow a routine maintenance schedule to minimize equipment breakdowns and disruptions to production.

Preventive Maintenance:Establish and implement a preventive maintenance program to prolong the lifespan of machinery and equipment.
Identify critical maintenance tasks and create maintenance plans for each piece of equipment.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Conduct complex repairs or coordinate with external service providers for specialized repairs.

Spare Parts Management:Manage an inventory of spare parts and supplies required for maintenance and repair work.
Order, organize, and maintain an adequate stock of spare parts to minimize downtime.

Safety and Compliance:Ensure that machinery and equipment comply with safety standards and regulations.
Promote a culture of safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards and promoting safe work practices.

Continuous Improvement:Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to increase efficiency and reduce maintenance requirements.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement improvements.

Record Keeping:Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history.
Generate reports on maintenance performance and make recommendations for improvements.

Training and Development:Provide training to maintenance technicians and other staff on equipment operation and basic maintenance tasks.
Stay updated on the latest maintenance techniques, technologies, and best practices.

Budget Management:Assist in the development of the maintenance budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Monitor and control maintenance costs to stay within budget limits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in maintenance and repair within a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in the furniture industry.
  • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practices and preventive maintenance methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially for urgent maintenance needs.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate with various departments.
