Job Description

A Food Runner plays a key role in the dining experience by ensuring that food orders are delivered promptly and accurately to the correct tables or customers. They work closely with the kitchen and serving staff to facilitate seamless service. The Food Runner is responsible for maintaining the high standards of presentation and quality that the establishment upholds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely Delivery: Promptly deliver food orders from the kitchen to the correct tables or customers, ensuring that dishes are hot and in pristine condition.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with the kitchen and serving staff to coordinate food delivery and ensure accuracy of orders. Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
  • Table Setup: Assist in setting up tables with the necessary utensils, condiments, and glassware prior to food service.
  • Clearing Tables: Clear finished dishes and utensils from tables in a timely manner, maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for presentation, portion size, and temperature.
  • Customer Service: Respond promptly to any customer requests or special instructions, and address any concerns or issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of service.
  • Cleanliness and Hygiene: Adhere to sanitation and food safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • A positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and a customer-focused approach.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food presentation and quality.
  • Knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
